About the route
In a slight change from last year the races start and finish in the grounds of the eccentric Bellamont House in Long Bredy, Dorset.
The routes go straight uphill from the start, then follow windblown hilltops, farm tracks, small footpaths, bridleways, steep fields both up and down, and go past ancient stones,
a forgotten chapel, and a wishing well. Despite the many runnable sections, this race is not easy; The marathon boasts approx 1200m of elevation, the half comes in at about 614m and the 10k at approx 270m (full garmin gpx file will be sent with the race instructions).
There are some long and steep climbs, many gates and stiles, and some difficult hillsides to traverse. There are also epic views reaching into the next county in places.
The Races are pretty much all trail apart from:
In the Marathon there is a total of approx 3km of short sections of tarmac, the longest being 0.8km
In the half there is a total of approx 1.2km of short sections of tarmac, the longest being 0.6km
In the 10km Race there is approx 0.5km of tarmac
There is a generous 8 hour cut off in the Marathon and a 4.5 hour cut off in the half. There is no cut off time for the 10km.
Routes will be marked with our own unique arrows. As back up we provide gpx files of the route with your race instructions.

Marshals & Aid Stations
We endeavour to put marshals on all road crossings, and tricky route turnings.
There will be 2 sweepers in each race.
There are 5 Aid Stations on the marathon, 3 on the half marathon, and 1 on the 10k
Aid stations will have shelter and will be stocked with basic provisions and will have the same choice of items.
THIS IS A CUPLESS RACE
In line with most european trail races and now many UK trail races we will NOT be providing disposable cups at the aid stations, this is to cut down on both litter and waste. Aid station volunteers will be happy to fill your water bladders and bottles for you, but we recommend you obtain a re-usable cup for drinks at the aid stations.
Planned aid station positions will be approx 6-10km apart at:
Loscombe Farm (Marathon & Half)
Upwey (Marathon only)
Portesham (Marathon & Half)
Gorwell Farm (Marathon & Half)
Gorwell Farm Hill (Marathon Only)
